Beyond the joy and wonder of simply visiting the beach, Foghorn brings educational engagement with scientific expeditions led by marine biologists, artists, and educators. Through our field trip programming, students immerse themselves in STEAM education with a rare, memorable approach steeped in scientific curiosity.
Critical thinking
Through the expansive and intricate environment of the beach paired with the lessons they receive from Foghorn staff, students will have the unique opportunity to learn by discovery.
Art
Through art projects within the Foghorn Curriculum, we will work with memory and creativity. Students will get to take their artistic representations home as a memento of their expedition.
Science
With a network of marine biologists and scientists from around the world, Foghorn works to introduce students who dream of becoming scientists with scientists.
Join us
We serve communities across the Puget Sound for field trips across the The City of Edmonds shoreline. Field trips can also be organized beyond the Puget Sound in coastal municipalities across Washington State and Southeast Alaska.
Understanding Tide tables for Expeditions
The curriculum of our field trip will be dependent on the tide forecasts. For low-tide expeditions, field trips must be planned in the Spring or Early fall on specific days. For field trip expeditions done in winter or early spring, we will focus our attention to the upper beach and marshland ecosystems.

Dates, pricing, and event-planning will be calculated with the following factors in mind: staff support, location, transportation, group size, weather, and curriculum. Please submit a general interest form for a detailed offering based on the goals of your institution.
