A Changing City

In the past two decades, the Seattle Area has welcomed some of the largest companies in the world, tallest buildings on the West Coast, and approximately 200,000 people. While we’ve seen the Sound grow into a rich, global hub of art, technology, and science, we’ve experienced some loss in the wake of this success. Despite our booming population, the percentage of people familiar with the inner workings of our natural world has dwindled. Those holding knowledge of the natural history of our region have found themselves in a small minority.

At a time when we are most disconnected to the land and sea around us, it is more imperative than ever to form an enduring connection with it. Foghorn seeks to develop and nurture this connection, inspiring our students to become responsible stewards and co-habitors with our wildlife, marine life, and native flora.

In the wake of this change, Foghorn works to teach.
